Free YouTube script generator

YouTube script generator: a narration script in seconds, ready to become a video

Type what your video is about, choose an explainer or a story, a YouTube video or a Short, and a length of 1, 2 or 3 minutes. Our AI writes the narration: a hook, one idea per scene and a closing line, timed to the voice that will read it. It's free, needs no account and works twice a day. One click turns the script into a narrated whiteboard or story video, and a 1-minute script is exactly what your free first video covers. Below the generator: the structure of a good YouTube script, how many words each length needs and templates by type of video.

1-min video, ready in ~1 minVideo made by our app

Scene 3 of 12Drawing in sync with the voice

Our app made this video of about a minute from a plain-text script, in about a minute: you paste it, click Create video and our AI draws and narrates every scene. Nothing edited by hand. Longer videos take a few minutes more.

Write your YouTube script

Describe the video, pick the type, the format and the length, and our AI writes the narration in English. Free, without an account, twice a day. The script is yours: copy it, or turn it into a video with one click.

Free, no sign-up, twice a day. In the app our AI also writes longer scripts, from an idea or, on a paid plan, a document, and turns them into videos.

The structure of a YouTube script, part by part

Almost every video that keeps people watching follows the same five parts. What changes with the length is how much room each one gets, not the order. This is the shape our AI writes to, and the one to follow if you write by hand.

PartWhat it doesIn a 1-minute videoIn an 8-minute video
HookGives the viewer a reason to stay: a question, a surprising fact, a problem they haveFirst sentenceFirst 15–30 seconds
PromiseSays what they'll know or be able to do by the endFolded into the hookOne or two sentences
BodyDelivers it one idea at a time, each with an example or an image3–4 short ideas4–7 sections, each with its own mini-hook
PayoffPulls the ideas together or answers the opening questionOne lineA short recap or the twist
Call to actionOne next step: watch the next video, subscribe, try itOptionalOne sentence at the end

Don't spend the first seconds on a long greeting or a channel intro: that's when most viewers decide whether to stay. Say who the video is for and why it matters straight away.

How many words is a YouTube script?

Narration for video runs at about 130 to 160 words a minute, depending on the voice and how fast it reads. The generator writes to the measured pace of the AI voice that will read the script, so the time it shows is the time you'll hear.

Video lengthWords (approx.)Paragraphs or scenesGood for
30 seconds65–802–3A Short with a single idea
1 minute130–1604–5A Short, a Reel or a quick explainer
3 minutes390–48012–15One question answered well
5 minutes650–80020–25A topic with three or four parts
10 minutes1,300–1,60040–50A deep dive, a story or a full tutorial

To check any script you already have, paste it into our script length calculator: it counts the words and tells you how long the narration runs.

YouTube script templates by type of video

The same topic can be told in very different ways. These outlines are the ones that keep working; the generator follows the first two, and you can ask for any of them in the app.

  • Explainer

Question → why it matters → the answer in 3–5 steps, each with an everyday example → one-line recap. Best for "how does X work" and "why does X happen".

  • Story

A character with a goal → an obstacle → two attempts → what changes → what they (and we) learn. Works for kids' stories, history and case studies.

  • List

The promise ("5 mistakes…") → each item with its fix → the strongest one last. Put a good item first too, or people leave before the best one.

  • Tutorial

The result first → what you need → the steps in the order they'd follow them → the most common mistake. Show the result early so they know it's worth it.

  • Myth vs truth

State the myth fairly → why people believe it → what really happens → how to tell next time. Only use a myth your audience actually believes.

  • Short, Reel or TikTok

Hook in the first sentence → one idea, no warm-up → a last line that makes people watch again or follow. One minute at most, and every second earns its place.

How to write a YouTube script, with or without AI

Whether you start from the generator or from a blank page, the steps are the same. A script made this way is easy to read aloud and easy to illustrate.

  1. Say the video in one sentence

Who is it for, and what will they know by the end? If you need two sentences, you probably have two videos. This sentence is what you type into the generator.

  2. Write the hook before anything else

Open with the question, the surprising fact or the problem, not with a greeting. If the first sentence wouldn't keep you watching, rewrite it before you write the rest.

  3. Give each idea its own paragraph

One idea per paragraph, with something concrete to see: an example, a comparison, a number. In a whiteboard video each paragraph becomes a scene, so if you can't picture it, the viewer won't either.

  4. Write for the ear

Short and long sentences mixed, everyday words, "you" where it fits. No headings, lists or brackets in the narration: they get read out loud. Read it aloud once and cut what you stumble on.

  5. Check the length

Count the words against the pace of your voice, or let the generator do it. If it runs long, cut the weakest idea rather than speeding everything up.

  6. End on one clear line

Answer the opening question or give the one thing to remember, then a single call to action. Several at once and viewers do none of them.

Is it OK to use an AI script on YouTube?

Yes. YouTube doesn't forbid scripts written with AI: what its monetization rules look at is whether a channel's videos are original and add something, rather than mass-produced or repetitive. A script is a starting point. Make it yours before you publish it.

A few habits keep an AI script on the right side:

  • Check every fact, figure and name against a reliable source. Our AI is told not to invent figures or quotes, but you publish the video, so you check it.
  • Add what only you know: your example, your opinion, the mistake you made. That's what makes a video worth watching over the ten others on the same topic.
  • Change the angle when you make several videos on one topic. "Another version" here, and every new draft in the app, starts from a different angle on purpose.
  • Keep the call to action honest: promise only what the video delivers.

From script to finished video in AnimatedBoard

The generator is the first step of the same tool we use to make our own videos. This is what happens after "Turn it into a free video".

  1. Create a free account

With your email or Google, no card. The script you just wrote is waiting in New video, with its language and format already set.

  2. Choose the look and the voice

A whiteboard video, where a hand draws each scene, or an illustrated story, in one of 22 looks. Voices narrate in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese; the free account uses one voice in each language.

  3. Press Create video

Our AI splits the script into scenes, draws each one and records the narration in sync with the drawing. Your words are read exactly as written: it never rewrites your script.

  4. Download it, or publish it

A Full HD MP4 with .srt and .vtt caption files. On a paid plan you can also publish it straight to YouTube or TikTok from the app. The free account covers one 1-minute video, once; longer videos use the minutes of a plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is the YouTube script generator free?

Yes. You can use it without an account twice a day from the same connection, and "Another version" uses the second one. With a free account, our AI writes scripts in the app at no cost in minutes.

Do I need an account to write a script?

No. You only need a free account to turn the script into a video or to write longer scripts. Writing one from a PDF or Word document comes with any paid plan.

How long are the scripts it writes?

On this page, 1, 2 or 3 minutes of narration for a YouTube video, and 1 minute for a Short, Reel or TikTok. In the app, our AI writes scripts from 1 to 15 minutes, timed to the voice you choose.

Can it write a script for YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Choose "Short, Reel or TikTok" and you get a 1-minute script with the hook in the first sentence and no warm-up, written for the first seconds, when viewers decide whether to keep watching.

What's the difference between an explainer and a story?

An explainer teaches one idea at a time, in a clear order, and becomes a whiteboard video where each paragraph is drawn as the voice says it. A story follows a character through a problem, and becomes an illustrated story video with chapters.

In which languages does it write scripts?

On this page the generator writes in English; on the other language versions of the page, in that language. In the app, videos can be narrated in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.

Can I use the script on a monetized channel?

Yes, it's yours to use however you like, without credit. Check the facts, add your own angle and examples, and read it aloud once before you publish: that's what makes a video original rather than another copy of the same topic.

Can I edit the script before making the video?

Yes. In New video the script is in an editable box: change any word before you press Create video. Once you create the video, our AI reads exactly what's there.

How is it different from asking ChatGPT for a script?

You don't write a prompt, and the script comes out shaped for video: a hook first, one idea per scene, no headings or stage directions to strip out, and the length measured against the voice that will read it. And one click turns it into the video itself.

What happens to what I type?

We keep the topic and the script for 7 days so the signup can carry the script into New video, and then delete them. They're not linked to you, and we don't keep your IP address.

You have the script. Now make the video.
